Dr. Emily Morgan is an expertly trained medical professional in Crocodile Creek’s state-of-the-art medical center, and active in the response team. Emily has been disappointed in love more than one time, and her most recent hurt is still fresh and painful. When a newborn baby is found abandoned and alive in the outback, Emily’s bond with the tot is a welcome distraction from her recent split with her fiancé of two years. She is determined that “Lucky”, as the baby has been nicknamed, is going to survive.
Handsome, Greek, and delicious, Michael Poulous, another resident of the doctor’s house at the medical center, is Emily’s best friend and support person. Michael understands hurt because he has only recently lost his girlfriend to Simon Kent, Emily’s intended. Talk about mutual betrayal. Mike’s strong shoulder is just the place that Emily needs to rest her head. Or is it? He has a secret, and not one that Emily is ready to hear.
Emily responds to an emergency call with Michael as the helicopter pilot and paramedic. It is her first time in a chopper and she is not sure if her stomach can handle it. Her maiden flight in something other than a fixed-wing aircraft with such a handsome and able pilot turns out to be a beautiful experience, and makes her a believer in the fine art of spitting. (You will have to read it to understand.)
The Doctor’s Unexpected Proposal by Ms. Roberts is your usual medical romance—a touch of medical terminology, a handsome hero, a somewhat strong yet helpless heroine, and a budding romance. But there is something about Ms. Roberts’ writing style that kept me captivated. I loved when she described Emily’s sensation in response to Michael’s touch; melting bones summed it up for me. She did such a wonderful job of painting a picture of Michael in my head I think I am in love with him. All that testosterone and a great story line, too. I am certain you will enjoy this book as much as I did.
