Lisa is the eldest daughter of the Old Woman in the Shoe. She is worried that her mother and siblings are growing less healthy as they live in poverty. She has the opportunity to be the Razzlewitch’s servant for ten years in exchange for their prosperity, so of course she takes it. She is transported into a world she has only heard rumors about, and feels surprisingly at home.
Willoway used to be the elf-sorcerer Kindred until the evil Darklanders cursed him. Now he exists in the wind without any solid form, unless he travels to the Darklands. The magical beings have been trying to help him, but until the one promised to him arrives, he is doomed to simply being part of the wind.
The Darklanders are determined to take over other magical realms with their evil. A prophecy has foretold that a human and an elf will someday unite, and with Huelf magic, will save the world from evil. A human with the Sight has arrived and she must be eliminated before she meets her elfin mate.
This story is fantastic! The author has created a vivid world of fairies, elves, witches, sorcerers and the like. Although strange, everything is perfectly logical in their terms. Lisa is a wonderful character. She is full of curiosity about everything in Tranquility and Ever After, and fits in well. The witch Melody has some problems, but is so much kinder than she wants the humans in the other world to see. Veritus and Selena are also very strong characters, but Kindred is the most intriguing. I really liked the bespelled sorcerer and the very gentle romance that he has with Lisa. I cannot wait to go back to this vivid world for more stories.
