Meg Peterson is the daughter of a vicar and the sister of a Marchioness. This is her second season in London. She has no great aspirations for marriage, just a husband with a bit of land for her to use her botanical skills on. Her method of interviewing potential husbands is a bit unorthodox.
John Parker-Roth has no intention of getting married. He was left at the altar once and prefers to study plants to gracing the ballrooms of London.
When Mr. Parker-Roth rescues Meg from an over amorous suitor, they are both caught in a compromising position, but Meg is determined not to let John sacrifice himself no matter how attracted she is to him. Everyone in London sees how well they are suited, except for them and this leads to some pretty interesting situations.
I really enjoyed this rollicking story. The characters are very colorful and funny. Meg’s naivety leads her into some pretty funny scenes and nearly ruins her reputation. John’s determination not to get married and his inability to resist Meg’s charms are really fun to read about and the consequences are pretty funny also. The other characters include familiar faces from the other “Naked” books, including the Duke and Duchess of Alvord, Meg’s sister Emma and her husband, and the Westbrookes. The very colorful Miss Witherspoon and her unique outlook on life and love adds to the fun. The author has managed to combine a very good love story with sensual love scenes with a humorous twist that is sure to please most everyone.
