Razak bin Ahmed bin al-Tahini does not like the fact an important relic has been stolen right in the place where Moslems go to worship. There is enough bloodshed already without causing more grief and death. He will work non-stop to find the artifact.

Charlotte Hennesey has intellect and charm. As an American geneticist, she is surprised when the Vatican wishes her to examine an archeological treasure. She never imagined the startling discovery would soon be a part of her life.

Razak is troubled that a crime has been committed and a precious artifact stolen. It bothers him that those who committed the crime staged the break-in where Moslems worshipped. Still he is impressed that it was pulled off, especially in Jerusalem. Now those who stole the relic must be caught and the precious item returned. Charlotte wonders what work she can possibly do at the Vatican but her boss, BMS founder Evan Aldrich, took the call from the priest and volunteered her service for the secretive project. She and Evan have dated for a year, keeping their work-related conflict abreast, but when test results reveal something that could threaten to change her life, she wonders can she trust Evan enough to tell him or will it even matter? Will he turn his back on her when they are so close to the news about the artifact?

This high-intensity read is loaded with a colorful cast that blends well throughout the book. There is plenty of history in each turn of the page. Mr. Byrnes has done excellent research with so much information that it just absorbs the reader like a sponge. I enjoyed all the characters, but Razak, Evan and Charlotte continued to catch my eye with their expressions, interest in the stolen artifact, and the importance of discovering the truth. I really loved the interaction shared between Evan and Charlotte. This intelligent thriller is remarkably well-written and a fiction so electric, it is practically addictive.
