Heather Lynn Westfield always wanted to be a model but instead she became a schoolteacher. Attending the newest grand opening of a ritzy fashion store, she is certain the owner must be older than dirt. Imagine her surprise when he introduces himself and he is handsome and young.
Jean Luc Echarpe is famous for his Paris designs and decides to open a shop in Texas. It is his fifth store in America and people wonder how he maintains his good looks; if mortals only knew his real secret. After seeing a pretty woman eyeing his gowns, he mistakes her for a spy.
Heather is surprised when a fancy designer from Paris opens a store in the middle of Texas Hill Country. She is there with her skinny model friend, Sasha. Heather observes the lovely display of gowns wishing the owner would design for the full figure girl with curves. She and Sasha long dreamed of being models in the fashion world, but Heather went the school teacher route. Jean Luc started his business first designing for vampires then designed more after seeing how mortals loved them. When he sees Heather browsing at his gowns he believes her to be a spy stealing his designs. The minute Heather meets the gorgeous man, she is smitten. She tells him that his designs do not cater to the normal woman. She is not a spy but wonders if he will arrest her. Instead he offers her a design job. When she learns his identity, she is in shock. She thought Echarpe was an old man. Jean Luc is certainly not old and working next to him opens up doors she never imagined. She intends to find everything about this dangerous mystery man.
The Undead Next Door is jumping with excitement and creativity that grabs the reader. The dialogue alone is top-notch as Heather and Jean Luc plunge into a blossoming relationship that soars. I loved their first meeting. The protection he offers her makes the read even more intense. Jean Luc is one smooth charmer. I love how Heather stands up to him over some matters. Kerrelyn Sparks’ artistic style has a way of drawing in an audience. With in-depth characters, a fantastic backdrop, and a fast-pace tale, that does not warrant a dull moment, this sensual story is a charmer.
