Rebecca Gentry has a secret crush on Jake Tanner. When he proposes marriage, she is completely amazed.
Jake Tanner needs a wife fast. The best choice is Rebecca but he does not need her to start thinking of any romance in this relationship.
Rebecca knew that someday Jake would come around, when it came to making her his wife but she thought it would be more or less romantic. Instead, he needs her to help him raise his niece, Casey and he does not wish any strings attached. The marriage is only a business venture but Rebecca has other thoughts and if she has her way, she intends to make it work. Jack needs to care for his niece after she loses her parents and he figures Rebecca is the best woman to make it happen. Besides, Rebecca is someone he respects and will not desire the love that comes with marriage. The need that Rebecca and Jake begin to feel for each other, after they have the ceremony, seems to change for them as a sudden attraction develops. Neither wishes to be lonely and with the help of a young child, it appears that some things can change the insecurities that adults feel in creating a love to last forever.
The Way Home is the second book in the Jamesville series. Rebecca and Jake begin a marriage that starts rocky but they work through their obstacles in time. They are believable in their actions as they choose the right path to take to make things right. Ms. Walters composes a touching story that reaches out to the reader. With decent characters that are reliable and compassionate, she blends a story with great dialogue and wonderful magnetism that brings out the in-depth emotions of the couple in this charming installment.
