Atlanta Jackson is a young black woman who is definitely a no holds barred, take no prisoners type of gal. She and her best friend Aloha own Evil Twins, a sports bar that she formerly owned as a strip club in Atlanta, Georgia.
Steele Magnussen, is a wealthy, good looking and tall blonde Viking. He is also a Berserker, one of legendary fame when a Berserker goes into berserkergang, watch out because they literally can kill quite easily.
In a clash of bodies at a building entrance, Atlanta and Steele collide. It is an accident but Atlanta is hurt and Steele must get her medical attention. Being the gentleman he is, they court over the next few months; in fact they do not take that next step until over six months after meeting to consummate their love. He needs to prove his love despite his being a Berserker and her acceptance of him.
A clash of personalities as well as bodies starts this book off with a bang. I love the disparity of personalities, Atlanta with her street savvy sass and do not mess with me attitude and Steele with his elegant European gentleman flavor. This is an unexpected delight with an ensemble cast of friends and family of both. Even in the modern day south, a relationship between mixed races is still looked down upon as in this tale. I love that this couple is secure in their love and care not that they are not the same color but relish their differences. Especially for a Berserker, do not mess with his woman or else, it only shows us part of what this legendary race of men can do but it gives you a good idea of a modern day Berserker.
