Josie Toadfern has been very busy lately. She is always on top of running her very successful Laundromat, writing her popular tips column (that might even be going national soon), and now she has offered to clean old costumes for the Mayfair sisters; the local celebrities from way back in the day. The costumes are to be used for a benefit concert, only the dress goes missing and reappears later at a murder scene.
Levi Applegate, the new director at Stillwater Farms, a residential home where Josie’s cousin with autism lives, has just moved into town. He is fascinated by Josie from the minute he sees her. As he is trying to get to know her, things start to go a bit crazy with a murder in Josie’s shop and secrets behind the Mayfair sisters. He wants to do everything he can to keep Josie safe and so she will not become the next victim.
Murder is on everyone’s mind in this sleepy town. They all want to know who has killed and why. Josie becomes a suspect and needs to prove her innocence. Levi and Josie’s friends put on their sleuth hats to help find the killer. But there are more secrets about to be revealed to this unsuspecting group of super sleuths.
Tie Dyed and Dead is a murder mystery wrapped in a humor filled blanket. I am not sure if I was trying more to figure out clues or laugh at the eclectic characters and their situations. What a great combination it makes. There is never a dull moment in this book. This was an absolute joy to read. It is my first from the “Stain-busting Mysteries” by Ms. Short but I will definitely be reading the others and more of the very entertaining cast of characters Ms. Short has created.
