Trey

Trey Williams belongs to a special operations unit with the military. Currently between missions, he spends a lot of time at the local bar with his friend Jack. Admiring the bartender, he reminds himself that he has no time for a relationship, but he cannot help being attracted.

Carly McAfee has a standing rule not to get involved with the military men she serves at her bar. Seeing the guys regularly, she gets to know them and their flirtatious antics, but when she starts anticipating Trey’s arrival, she knows she is treading on tricky ground.

When Carly is recruited for a dangerous mission, Trey vows to protect her at all costs, but realizes it just may cost him his heart, and his best friend.

Jack

Jack Gordon goes home on mandatory mental health leave after his heart is broken by the cute bartender he has a crush on. At home he encounters an even cuter horse handler with a New York accent. After speaking with her and getting evasive answers, his suspicions are aroused.

Niccolina Campolini is hiding out at a peaceful horse farm. Being welcomed by the Gordon family makes her a little less skittish but no less weary of those who may come looking for her. Jack makes her feel quite uncomfortable but she can not deny her yearnings for the ruggedly handsome military man.

Things come to a head when two mobster type guys appear at the farm asking questions about Nicki. Jack and Nicki head for an old hunting cabin and Jack calls his friends Trey and Matt for backup. Will Nicki and Jack ever get to explore their fledgling feelings or will her past get in the way?

Jimmy

James Gordon goes on a mission, posing as a waiter when he spots a gorgeous redhead with an impervious air that challenges his macho ego. When she slips her phone number to him later, they resume their battle of wills in her hotel room where he proves his dominance and sexual prowess. The next morning, he disappears, deep undercover.

Amelia Monroe-Carrington is the governor’s daughter and as such, she is used to being pampered and obeyed. Tired of the yes men in her life she yearns for a man’s man. She notices the extremely handsome waiter at a political fundraiser and wonders, until she notices he has noticed her.

Six months later on a horse farm out in the country, Amelia and Jimmy come face to face in a barn. Questions, hurt feelings and explanations are discussed along with urgent kisses. Can they really have a future together despite her father and his occupation?

Ms. Cat Johnson has written an accurate depiction of military men and the women who love them. The heroes in these three stories are proud of their military occupations but still find room in their lives for romance. I enjoyed these glimpses into their lives.
