Roselle is a disappointment to her mother. Instead of going to medical school like her older sister, she is just a waitress in Kozy’s Café. She, with apparently nothing more important to do like her siblings, should be available to help her mother whenever needed. Even Mom does not expect Roselle to find a body on one of her errands.
Will Boone is the local bad boy. His depression over the death of his sister and subsequent drinking problem cost him the most important thing in his life, Roselle. He is determined to get her back, if he can keep her alive.
When Roselle finds a local woman’s body in her jelly cabinet, she becomes a target for the killer. All signs point to local wise guy Fast Eddie who seems to be sending Roselle rather inventive threats straight out of a gangster movie. Roselle is determined to find out the truth, and her ex is determined to get her back.
This is a hard to put down story. Roselle is a very appealing character. She is suffering since her break up and really does not get much other than aggravation from her family. Her mother in particular is pretty hard to deal with. Will has a lot of charisma, but just does not seem to understand Roselle ’s point of view at first. He is there when she needs him. The other characters are pretty colorful, from Fast Eddie to the incompetent Officer Myers. The story line is well written and never gets boring, and the mystery angle is good also. This is a great story with something for everyone.
