Melissa Jacob’s is a con artist. She has been caught by the authorities and convinced to work for them with the usual carrot and stick combination. The stick is criminal rehab and the carrot is help in tracking down her missing mother.

Keagan Cole is Melissa’s high school sweetheart. Shortly after her mother went missing, Keagan went to boot camp and she has not seen him since. Keagan is in the same situation that Melissa is in; being used by the authorities to spy on Melissa’s father.

Melissa and Keagan are thrown together again when she is forced by her control to spy on her father and Keagan. Will the threat of rehab and the promise of help in finding her mother be strong enough for Melissa to turn her back on the love of her life and her remaining parent?

Undercover: Too Deep lacks coherency and is poorly written. I am not sure exactly what the purpose of this story is. There are so many plots thrown together that it is hard to follow and the inconsistent use of code names for many of the characters complicates the story unnecessarily. The characters lack depth and the dialogue is stilted and awkward. The actions of the characters are also exaggerated, sometimes almost painfully so. Finally the world envisioned in this story is weak. The future history is inconsistently explained and poorly outlined. One or two of these flaws would have been bearable, but unfortunately there are too many things in Undercover: Too Deep that do not work.
