Claire O’Neil is an artist on her way up in the world, she wanted to be famous and she is off to a great start, but she wants to be the wife of Captain Richard Hart also. Claire left New York when she heard that there had been an accident during Richard’s investigation and is now going to see how bad Richard is. Claire and Richard have come through a lot, and she wants more than ever to be married to him. With the war between Germany and France just recently over, Claire knows France is still in its shaky stages yet. But hopefully Claire and Richard will be able to start their life together now.
Captain Richard Hart is recovering from an explosion that went wrong. Now in the hospital, Richard is blind as well as having nightmares of his time when he was captured. Richard has just learned that Claire is on her way to see him, and even though Richard loves Claire more than anything, he is not ready for her yet, and with the strength of his nightmares he is afraid he is not capable of being the man he once was.
Claire knows that Richard is fighting his love for her; and thinks he is not able to be a good husband should they marry. But Claire knows their love has seen a lot, and has come through a lot, and Claire is sure they can get through this too. But as soon as Richard is released from the hospital, he and friends find out about a ratline running. While Richard is chasing possible suspects, he is pushing Claire towards another man, Alex Polzin. Claire finds Alex attractive but her heart remains with Richard, but Richard refuses to see they can have a future together. Will Claire finally let her attraction to Alex make her decision? Or Can Richard find a way to release his demons to save their love?
Warring Hearts three is an emotionally driven story that is loaded with descriptive details of a war-torn France, just barely coming to life again after the war. Exceptional plots and incredible characters weave an exciting tale of one couple who is trying to save their love while still fighting the after effects of the war. Set at a steady pace you are never left out as to what is to going on, but kept wondering who is doing what. This is the third and final book of this trilogy, but stands on its own easily. But be warned; after reading this book, you will want to read the first two even more. Spicy hot love scenes completes this story making this one spectacular read.
