Aya Morrell is so tough a woman, no one wants to mess with her. She has her own agenda, but when the Bureau gives her another assignment, she is not sure what they have in mind. She will have a lot of riddles to solve. Aya will go to any length, ethical or not, to do her job well.
Gavin Wade lost his partner because she crossed the line one time too many. He is ready to resign when his boss gives him one last chance to redeem himself. After that, he can resign. He is not sure what he is signing up for but it seems easy. He is pining for Aya and wants to find a way to tell her how he feels.
Going to work for Neurotech seems to be a good thing. Someone is stealing company secrets and it is Aya’s job to find out who, and why. This seems to be a cut and dried case but there is more to it than she could ever imagine. Gavin gets an easy assignment; find out why someone is blackmailing Mr. Loria. He has no idea what he is getting into, but he goes beyond what is required in his determination to figure out what is going on. He is in for quite a surprise.
This story is driven by suspense and secrets, making it quite a page-turner. Ms. Bennett shows that no one has allegiance to anything, and will do whatever is necessary to look good. Aya does not handle rules and regulations very well. Gavin is willing to work within the rules, but will break them if necessary. They have very different perspectives on their jobs, but both want to complete them. The ending will astonish you when all is revealed.
