Katie Williams is a special child. She is the great-granddaughter of Miranda, a Gypsy woman who had the gift of seeing things before they occurred. This gift was passed on to Katie, who has been a remarkable help to the community of Hillsdale.

Charlie Williams has spent the last nine years of his life in prison for a crime he did not commit. At the age of eighteen, Charlie got into a fight with Marty Richards over a previous incident. Marty then, robbed a jewelry store and framed Charlie as the get-away driver. Now, Charlie is out of prison and trying to start his life over.

Charlie is only back in town a few days when Katie approaches him at the local mall. Charlie is dressed as Santa and is collecting donations to help the needy families of Hillsdale. He tries to deny he is “Uncle Charlie”, but Katie pulls out the big gun… her mom. Charlie finds himself wrapped up in the arms of his family once again, which is a great comfort. Marty Richards approaches him with a threat against Katie’s life if Charlie refuses to help Marty with a crime. Against his better judgment, Charlie agrees in order to protect his family. Lucky for Charlie, Santa is feeling very generous this year.

What a delightful tale of family, friends and the Yuletide spirit! This story takes you to Hillsdale, a quiet little community full of such bright characters. Katie and her belief in her uncle add a bright ray of sunshine to this book. I became absorbed in this story, the people and the town. Mr. Saperstein and Mr. Rush pull you in at page one and keep your attention straight through to the end. Everyone needs a little extra boost at Christmastime and this is truly a feel good boost.
