Bethany has not been a vampire for very long. As an Offspring, her life may still be in danger from older vampires who do not think she is worth keeping around and therefore seek to kill her. When one of the Kinsmen, an older vampire with much more experience, suddenly approaches her, she is not sure whether she can trust him or not.

As a Kinsman Troy has been a vampire for a very long time and is used to the ways of his people, which often involve culling the Offspring. For some reason, this time he is extremely reluctant to allow the death of one particular younger vampire. He is enthralled by Bethany and does not want anything to happen to her so does his best to save her life.

This particular book describes a society in which vampires have a specific hierarchy that many do not usually break. The story explores the emotional conflict experienced by Troy, a vampire who decides to break their society's rules and by Bethany, a younger vampire who is the cause of the rules being broken. Bethany's creator has her own agenda and does her best to interfere in the developing relationship. Can love conquer all?

I love vampires but I often have a more romantic take on the world of these paranormal creatures than many because I am not a horror fan. That is why I have given the book the three-cup rating. However, the story is well written and sure to please many a fan of the horror genre. Ms. Sidhe is a creative author who I am certain we will see more fabulous stories from in the future.
