Roxana Leventis has left her home back in Greece in search of the independence to make her own choices. One of them is her job, which is not the normal 9-to-5 deal. She is a piece of living art. It has her strapped into a harness and blindfolded while people can view and touch her. Another choice may be her new guard, Donovan. They seem to be intensely attracted to each other.
Donovan Armstrong, a wolf shifter, has left his home back in Canada in search of a mate. His job of guarding art seems easy enough till he sees what he keeps under surveillance–a live person. After four years, he has pretty much given up finding a mate. Roxi, the human art he is to guard, would be too fragile, but his wolf gets the scent of her and may have other ideas…
They have both left home in search of something, which may very well end up being each other. Donovan is reluctant to share his secrets with her. He thinks she is too delicate to handle him and his needs. However, her mother is anxious to see her find a husband. His wolf may have another opinion, and her mother’s meddling may end up causing trouble.
I enjoyed reading this story. It is a first book in a new series and I am looking forward to the next one. Character interactions are intense and hot. In the case of Donovan, it is particularly evident in the control he has over his wolf. These shifters in this world are animalistic and feral. They are not like in other stories and the end of “mating” may not be for everyone. Everything is balanced, with just enough details to keep the story going and the interest raised.
