Abigail Forsythe is not your typical debutante attending her first “Season”. Actually, she is twenty-three years old with an advanced education and definitely different views that would not appeal to the numerous witless, hormone driven young swains making the rounds. Having agreed to be introduced to society, she sets her sights on one particular decidedly disinterested, rakishly handsome Earl.
Simon Berrenger, the new Earl of Collingsworth, is quite bored with the endless rounds of balls, soirees and teas, full of chattering mindless title-seeking mothers with their equally brainless daughters. With his usual view of women being worthless except in the bedroom, he is introduced to a woman with uncommon intelligence and she quickly aggravates him senseless.
Abigail sets out to appeal to Simon’s intellect rather than his libido while Simon cannot help but try to get her in his bed. Abigail is relentless in her quest for a proper courtship until Simon capitulates. Has he changed his mind about women or just this one?
Ms. Gayle Eden has written a humorous romance, full of intelligent women and handsome men with entirely too much money and time on their hands. Abigail is a modern, educated woman stuck in the Regency age while Simon is one of the walking wounded in the battle of the sexes, unable to set aside his past. Their witty repartee is humorous while the obvious attraction sizzles like static electricity. This story is easy flowing, which makes it a pleasure to read. I thoroughly enjoyed this read.
