Rojo Rose had a reputation among his fellow vampires for being an efficient and fair killer, never killing unless the victim deserved it. He loves feeding off of mobsters and has no qualms about it. So it is strange when two flunkies wake him up one evening beckoning him to a meeting with Lang, a powerful vampire who is reported to dispatch humans and vampires alike with a vicious swiftness. Lang wanted Crimson Daly, a newly turned vampire, brought to him. Why?

Crimson Daly is a fledgling vampire, learning the ways of the vampire from Henri, an ancient one. Her penchant for roses includes a greenhouse full of the fragrant blooms, all cultivated with her loving hands. When she starts dreaming of roses, it does not seem strange until she meets Rojo Rose. Her instant craving for him startles her.

Crimson and Rojo begin a tentative friendship full of lustful attraction, tinged with an unnamed danger that they both could feel around the edges. Crimson could not help being drawn toward the handsome, dark-skinned warrior and Rojo could not resist the urge to protect the red-headed beauty. Would their hunger for each other be their undoing?

Ms. Mechele Armstrong has written a great story of love found after great misfortune. Crimson shows her strength when her lover is threatened, and Rojo shows his heart when he puts another ahead of himself. Their individual pasts show how far they have come as vampires, while still showing their human frailties. Their sexual encounters were loving and explosive, with just enough passion to peak the libidos of any reader. I enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone interested in this genre.
