Josephine ‘Josie’ McMaster is a disaster. She is the queen of Murphy’s Law: If it can go wrong, it will. Josie has no desire to enter the Bridesmaid Lotto, a chance to win a bridesmaid spot in the wedding of Emma VanHorn and Alan Hall, brother to Jake Hall.
Jake Hall is a celebrity who just came out and said he is ready to settle down, just in time for his brother’s wedding. He is truly a down to earth guy who just wants to fall in love.
Out of one hundred thousand entries, Josie’s name is one of the four drawn. Only the promise of a three-week all expenses paid vacation from her mother has Josie agreeing to this chance of a lifetime. A contest between the bridesmaids for bachelorette party ideas has Josie ending up where she never dreamed she would be, on a date with Jake. Finding out that Jake is just a regular guy who really does want to fall in love certainly does change Josie’s point of view when it comes to the lottery.
With a sense of humor, Josie takes the reader back to her school days by allowing us a peek into her diary. Those entries had me smiling throughout the entire book. Josie’s mother actually had me laughing out loud. She was a delight. The catfights, both physical and verbal, were vicious, yet very true to life. With four women competing for one sexy man’s attention, what else can you expect? Ms. Astor has penned a unique and fun story. If you enjoy characters that make you grin, this is the book for you.
