Grace Williams should be overjoyed being an architect with a forthcoming marriage to a rich elaborate partner in the firm but she feels something missing in her life. The only positive points in her life are the summers spent with her grandmother.

Sam Clarke loves the outdoors life and is responsible. He was like Grace’s big brother and always took her fishing. He finds Grace breathtaking and wants her in his life.

Grace goes to the mountains after her grandmother leaves her a house. Believing the quiet of the mountains will give her a chance retrace her roots and remember what is important. She needs a break from her socialite mother and her fiancé, Phillip. Of course, after seeing Sam, she had no idea that her crush had grown worse for him. Sam is happy to see Grace again. She is incredibly bright and beautiful. He wonders would she ever consider leaving her fiancé for a simple carpenter. As they fight their irrefutable feelings for the other, Grace is caught in events she never imagined as secrets begin to unfold in the mountains. With everything else spinning in her life, she must decide where her loyalties lay, with Sam her one true love or back home in a limbo life.

Building Suspicions is so visual and detailed that I found myself right in the setting of the story. From the younger days when Grace visited her grandmother to the scene of Sam and the bees circling the lilacs, Ms. Ames pens a tale that is truly remarkable. She creates believable characters with a great plot and secondary characters that are incredible and shows that sometimes what may seem as wasting time is only waiting for the right decisions in life.
