Suzanne Hudson is up for a change. She is tired of trying to find romance with any man who does not want the same in return. Deciding to leave the man with whom she is with, she heads to Louisiana for a new job.

George St. Julien is master of the manor at Magnolia Hill. After Suzanne arrives at the manor and some silver is discovered missing, he wonders how she could suspect him.

Suzanne hopes her move to a little town outside of New Orleans, will be rewarding. She can only hope that taking care of the inventory, of the antiques of the antebellum home, will be exciting. At least she would be here far away from the boyfriend to whom she said good riddance. When she first meets George, he seems awkward and completely business-like, but as time goes by, he softens. George shows concern when Suzanne gets a warning from her last boyfriend. He cannot allow any harm to come to her, and will do anything to save her. After she is accosted, and silver is missing from his home, he has to up his protection to make sure no harm will come to the woman he has grown fond of.

Courir De Mardi Gras is an enjoyable read. The interesting characters carry the reader into the beautiful imagery New Orleans offers. While George is an enigma, to watch Suzanne's actions from their first encounter to the last makes the story a delight. The secondary players add flare to all the events surrounding this adventure. Lynn Shurr breathes life into the characters and allows each turn of the page to lead up to a pleasurable ending.
