Zabdiel Spikeston is not your typical seventeen year-old. Already on his third mission, his assignment is to divert the planet Sangria’s annihilation by disbursing a gaseous cloud that would shield it from the Sun’s deadly rays. While trying to accomplish this, he is fired upon by someone on the planet surface and has to make a crash landing in a vineyard.

Celestra Rotella and her family own a wine making business that has existed for a long time. She has lost interest in the available men her age and is content studying to be a sorceress-enchantress. That all changes when a NASPA spaceship crashes in her family’s vineyards.

Zabdiel and Celestra become friends and immediately are drawn to each other. He tells her of being attacked by someone on the planet and she agrees to help him find the culprit. When Zabdiel is attacked on Rotella land, he glimpses his attacker and it is a woman resembling Celestra. Why is she trying to thwart his mission to save her planet?

Ms. Girard has written a cute story about burgeoning first love between teenagers. Zebdiel is a thoughtful young man on the verge of manhood, filled with purpose and responsibility. Celestra shows all the signs of being in love for the first time, filled with the awe inspiring feelings of awakening sexuality. I enjoyed reading this book and I am sure any young adult would enjoy it also.
