Charity Wilson is a beautiful mixed-race young woman who lives and works at the Sweetbrier Academy. At the academy she has learned all the social skills of a high society debutante. She has also learned how to give ultimate pleasure -- for a price. While Charity thinks she is in love with Aaron Billings, a Senator's son, she also thinks he is a way out for her and will provide her with the life she desires, a life of a high society woman. Aaron has other ideas though. He is content to sleep with her, but he will never to make her his wife.

Joshua Tobias Meriwether is engaged to Violet Marsh though he is not very happy about it, as he does not love her. She is the daughter of his business partner. He is suspicious of his soon to be father in law. The first time he sees Charity, he knows there is something special about her.

When Joshua over hears Charity and Aaron arguing at a party, he makes a snap decision. He offers her a way out of the Academy, and away from Aaron Billing. The job is to be a personal secretary to both him and Violet. When Charity accepts Joshua's offer, she packs her bags and leaves Wyoming without a backward glance. Violet is not happy that Joshua has brought Charity into his home. Violet is not in love with Joshua either, she and her father are only after his money and his business.

This is a wonderful story about a girl who is on the wrong side of the tracks as far as society is concerned. Charity is willing to do whatever it takes to find love, and she has found it in Joshua. The chemistry between Charity and Joshua is dynamic. I love Violet; she is the prime example of a high society spoiled brat and makes this book just that much more interesting. I try to read books in a series in order. This is the third book in this series and while I have not read the first two books, I did not have a problem with reading this book first.
