Briley Lester is a defense attorney for the law firm of Franklin, Watson, Smyth & Morton. Her cases usually involve defending criminals, but nothing like who she is about to take on.
Erin Tomassi is a politician’s wife, one who has been abused time and again over the last five years of her marriage to Illinois state senator Jeffrey Tomassi. Waking up next to a dead man seemed like the worst thing that could happen, until she was charged with his murder.
Briley figures that she was handed the murder case to get the ball rolling before handing it off to someone more experienced. Realizing that she will have to defend Erin by herself, and without the normal help, makes her question what her bosses’ motives are. As Erin continues to proclaim her innocence even in the face of all the evidence stacked against her, Briley is not sure whether she has enough faith to believe in a woman who is crying out to be heard. But when the facts begin to paint another picture, one that is straight out of a science fiction novel, Briley races to save a woman from certain death because if the court system does not kill her, someone else just might.
Let Darkness Come is one tale that will keep you reading and guessing until the very end. Angela Hunt has written a very gripping novel, one that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. I loved how Erin and Briley became each others’ support systems in different ways, which connects the reader and brings them deeper into the storyline. The different sensations that poured out of this book were amazing and had me on an emotional roller coaster and biting my nails to the quick. Giving this novel a five cup rating seems almost like an insult and I surely wish I could give it more; it is just...that...good!
