Nola Grainger has a full life in Chicago. She owns her own photography studio, she has an amazing lover, and she is happy with her city life. When Nola gets the notification that her grandmother, who raised her from ten years old until she was eighteen, has died, Nola meets with the lawyer to go over the will.
Marc Overmyer is suave, debonair, sophisticated, and known for the way he runs through women. He is considered a connoisseur of women and when he and Nola become lovers, he begins to teach her all the different ways of sex. Marc is also known to hate clingy women and when he gets bored, he drops them fast.
Nola finds out she must marry within a month or she will not inherit anything, including the house and lands. She packs her bags and moves to Resnick, Georgia where Nola begins her hunt for a husband. Billy, Marc, and Tanner are her three candidates but she has to make sure they are compatible in bed, and so she seduces all three in hopes of being compatible with at least one of them. Out of the blue, Nola believes that someone is trying to kill her, but she has no idea who or why and she begins to suspect it may be one of the three lovers currently in her bed.
Mating Game is a book with tons of sexual heat, a lot of mystery, a plot with page-gripping suspense, and is a very good read all around. Ms. Maynard uses the idea of a marriage of convenience and gives it her own twist to make this tale a unique and very fun read. Nola's struggle to make a decision about staying at the house was very realistic and I love how she finally made up her mind and stayed with it, even through all the troubles. I also enjoyed how as the crimes against Nola escalated, the fingers were pointed pretty much everywhere and you really could not be sure who was after her. If you like a novel to be sexy, intense, thrilling, and with tons of spicy sex, then this is definitely the book for you.
Caution: This tale contains some scenes of being tied up and coarse language used during sex.
