Marilee Trainor is a beautiful redhead and the EMT and ambulance driver for her small Montana town. She is also a pilot and supplements her income by flying to pickup and deliver supplies to surrounding communities. She is very independent and leery of relationships.
Wyatt McCord has lived all over the world since his parents left the family ranch. He is finally home and ready to put down roots. His blonde good looks ensure that he has had no shortage of women to fill his life, but he only is interested in one.
The lost McCord treasure is legendary around Gold Fever. Most thought Coot McCord crazy for spending his life looking for it, but his three grandsons believe that it exists and are determined to find it. They are finding love along the way also. Wyatt has his eye on the beautiful Marilee, but she values her independence very highly. She is very attracted to Wyatt, but is leery of making the same mistakes her mother did. Wyatt is very protective, even more so when strange accidents seem to be directed at her.
I liked the setting and the characters in this novel and the back-story of the lost treasure and the McCord family history is very interesting. Wyatt and Marilee have definite chemistry and both were likeable and attractive characters. Their rocky romance and perilous adventures will keep readers interested and the mystery of the lost gold makes me want to read the other two books in the series.
