MY GIVE A DAMN’S BUSTED
Rating 2 cups
Larissa Morley, owner of Texas bar, The Honky Tonk, is used to ignoring the flashy charms of rugged cowboys. When, in a squeal of tires and a cloud of dust, she nearly wrecks her classic car into an old, beat-up truck, she is stunned to find her hormones going into overdrive.
Hank Wells was sent on a mission to sweet talk Larissa, using whatever means necessary into giving up ownership of her little bar. While he is not past using seduction as a weapon, he isn’t prepared for his body to be the one falling into the trap.
While lyrics to country music spin around them during one hot Texas summer, they try to uncover each other’s secrets when what they really want to do is uncover as much of each other’s skin as possible. Will the curse of the Honky Tonk hold true, or is it a blessing in disguise?
Hotter than the Texas heat, Hank Wells saunters onto the page and into smart talking and savvy Larissa Wells life. These two characters are fun and their dialogue is fast paced and witty. The story drags a bit, riddled with lyrics that are probably included to make the story richer but instead break up the plot line making it harder to follow. Also, some of the actions of the characters, considering their backgrounds and described personalities, seem somewhat off, making it harder to sink into the otherwise steamy and fun read. All around, an appealing story that could have been exceptional if not for a few things that threw this reader off a little.
