Money does not make happiness, which Chase Gordon can clearly attest. After his parents' death Chase lost the use of his legs. Now he spends his days in a home so large and quiet it may as well be a tomb.

As if his life could not get any worse, Walter Godrey is front and center to a mob killing. Now he has not only lost his job as a reporter, he has a giant bulls-eye painted on his back.

After speaking with his informant Alec Pratt, Detective Brian Schrade knows it is imperative Walter is sent to a safe place. The safest he can think of is Chase’s mansion outside of the city, if the reclusive billionaire agrees. Chase and Walter recognize an instant attraction, although their individual baggage is not so easy to ignore. The mob has its fingers in everything, and it is going to take a miracle for Chase and Walter to make it out alive.

There seems to be two interweaving plots here, which I feel makes keeping up with the characters an interesting challenge. Chase and Walter’s goals are also at odds. Though it is obvious they care deeply. The other side of this story sneaks in with Brian and Alec, whose attraction for each other is simmering so hot beneath the surface you can feel it. I really love the intensity these men have. I would just like to see each side a little more developed.
