Liberty Wilson, (Libby), needs a modification in her life. Her sister Bianca is constantly putting her down on everything; either with age, her hair, weight, or not getting a date in how long?
Sergeant Jefferson Muldoon, an ex-soldier, has a ritual each morning by raising the stars and strips early.
Liberty wants to see fireworks. Not only is it the fourth of July, but it is her birthday, and Bianca is eager to point out some flaws. Libby pays her no mind; too busy getting a view of the yummy soldier in his cut off fatigue shorts. When she takes some of his rerouted mail to his house, Jefferson introduces himself and invites her in for breakfast. He mentions how he has seen the way she gazes his way each morning. Libby is surprised to learn that he has been noticing her from afar. It is hot inside the cottage, and not from lack of air conditioning, as Jefferson presents Ms. Liberty the best birthday present ever.
Salute is a charming story. I loved the character of Libby. She is interesting and down to earth. She and Jefferson have instant chemistry, as soon as they meet. Ms. Dawn composed a story with believable characters with some intense lava added along the way. Bianca is the sister, that at one time or another, everyone has experienced and would love to render silent. Ms. Dawn created a read that is a delight.
