There are only a few people there, and all of them either act weird or are dangerous looking, including handsome Nick Draco. Nick looks at her with the heat of his steely eyes, and she is not sure if she is frightened of him or herself.
Nick Draco is undercover on Cape Diablo for the drug smuggling that has been going on. So when Carrie arrives, he knows he needs to get her back off the island. But trying to convince her is not easy. Nick learns some disturbing things about Carrie and her friend's past and when he starts putting things together, Nick is ready to investigate on his own. But first he has to get Carrie off the island.
Nick convinces Carrie to let him take her around the island to see if they can locate her missing friend anywhere. Nick knows there were bogs and other dangerous areas Carrie could find herself in trouble with. Carrie resigns herself to the fact that Tia is not on the island. But after leaving, Carrie finds other clues on the mainland and heads back to Cape Diablo. That is when both Nick and Carrie end up fighting for their lives.
This is absolutely an outstanding book. Chilling adventure, spine tingling drama, and loaded with mystery; this story grabs you from the first page and keeps you ensnared until the last. This tale is creatively written with excellent characters and an intense storyline. Only softened a bit by the sensual love scenes and sexual tension, this story will send chills up your spine. This is only one of the stories in the Cape Diablo series, and Ms. Stevens has added the chilling touch she is known for.
