She thought it had been forever. But it was 15 years and Josie still felt the pain, the break in her heart that she has yet to fully recover from. Gazing up at her old tree house, Josie reminisces about her next-door-neighbor, and previously believed soul mate’s, abandonment.
Reed was always torn. Josie was the light of his life, but dark secrets within his house constantly threatened to engulf him. Until one day he was forced to leave without a goodbye or backward glance. But he has never forgotten her.
Now they are both back to where it all started, but what will a reunion hold? Can the truth set Reed free and earn Josie’s forgiveness? Or were their dreams of being together an illusion shattered years ago?
Ms. Dane did a terrific job conveying the anguish of her characters. Josie and Reed’s pain threaten to squeeze your heart from the first page. Though a lot of years apart yawn between them, you cannot help but hope for a reconciliation in this couple’s immediate future. Not to mention that some almost blisteringly hot pages are sure to keep your eyes glued to the screen. I have no doubt that The Boy Next Door will be a crowd pleaser.
