The Glendon Hills Retirement Center is a wonderful facility, and Viola Weatherspoon is more than happy to show it off to prospective buyers. She is giving Leah Rinehart the grand tour, which goes great until Vi’s cat Sweetie makes a break for it.

Sitting around watching the world go by is not how Tyrone Landowski wants to spend his retirement. Thankfully, with friends like Vi there is little chance of that happening.

Traipsing around the woods behind GH on a sweltering hot day is probably not Vi’s brightest idea, but finding Sweetie is more important than a little discomfort. Instead of finding the cat, Vi and Leah come across a dead body. At Leah’s insistence, Vi and Ty are roped into investigating the case, even though they both know it could lead to serious trouble. If that is not enough to keep them busy, Vi takes to looking for the fire bug who tried to destroy the GH kitchen.

There is something to be said for being a gutsy golden-ager, but Vi and Ty take it to a whole other level. Not content with the variety of activities at GH, they worm their way into murder and arson investigations. This time around Ty is a much more active participant, and Vi is still every bit as pushy. While their antics are somewhat entertaining, I find it hard to imagine these two septuagenarians, whose days revolve so heavily on when and what they are eating, having the time to hunt down murder suspects.
