The Girl with the Golden Gun is a western contemporary romance where the past touches the present creating a roller coaster of emotions that the readers must ride until the end. Ms. Major uses flashback scenes to create an understanding of her characters giving depth and life to the story. Shanghai is a true cowboy in every sense. At time, he leaves the reader frustrated by his cold-hearted actions and words. Mai is easily wounded by Shanghai and she lashes out in return. Mai’s anguish becomes the readers. I highly recommend The Girl with the Golden Gun to readers who enjoy page turners dole out like an exciting bull ride.
