Ichabod Crane is a schoolmaster who is attempting to court Katrina Van Tassel. Ichabod is not interested in Ms. Van Tassel, just the lands that will go to her husband once she marries.
Brom van Brunt -Bones- is the bane of Ichabod’s existence. His courtship of Ms. Van Tassel irks Ichabod, and his pranks are well known throughout the village. Could it be that Bones only wants to gain Ichabod’s attention?
Tarrytown’s darker side appeals to Ichabod. Many a man is known to “tarry” in Tarrytown, indulging in the delights of a particular tavern which caters to the forbidden passions of gay sex. Ichabod has been known to find his pleasure at this tavern. One evening, while on his way back from a gathering at the Van Tassel’s, Ichabod is kidnapped by the Headless Horseman who turns out to be Brom Bones is disguise. Satiating their desires in one another, Ichabod and Brom hatch a plan to find wealth another way.
I have always been a huge fan of anything to do with Sleepy Hollow and the legends therein. To discover this book, where my suspicions where proven correct, was one of those moments where shivers swept over my skin. With a creative twist here and there, Ms. Wadsworth takes a classic story and makes it refreshingly new. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow has always been a tale to keep a person awake with terrifying images. This new version will keep you awake, but in a completely different way. The images running through your mind are far from terrifying. If you are looking for an old favorite with a brand-new bend in the telling, then this book is a must add to your bookshelf.
