Grace Eachin is known as the Scottish Songbird. She is an actress best known for her voice as well as her beautiful face and body.
Richard Lynsted has a reputation as well. His is more of the priggish variety as he is considered straitlaced, stuffy, and without humor.
When Richard finds out that Grace is blackmailing his uncle and father he confronts the actress expecting to find a garish, bawdy woman. The next thing he knows, the beautiful woman and he are on their way to Inverness to prove her father’s innocence. Along the way they will battle villainous people along with their ever growing feelings for each other. When the truth finally comes out, will it unite them as lovers or tear them apart forever?
One of the best parts of this story lies in the way each character finds themselves while viewing the other in a different light. Grace, known only for her beauty and voice, is observed as being intelligent and so much more than a pretty face. Richard is a giant of a man, clumsy most times, and features too bold to be considered handsome but that is how Grace comes to view him. The Marriage Ring is about two completely different characters who come together under one common goal and while on their journey, they find out who they really are. Ms. Maxwell has written a book full of bold adventure, amazing scenery, rich history, and two people who will be remembered for their vibrant characteristics.
