Gloria Lamerino, retired scientist in Revere, Massachusetts, heads out to Berkley, California for her closet friends wedding unaware of the murder and mayhem to follow.

Matt Gennaro is Gloria’s fiancé. He halfway looks forward to the time they will spend together while he is away from the homicide desk of the Revere Police Department. But she does not have to pamper him so since recovering from prostate cancer treatments.

Elaine Cody, scientist and Gloria’s good friend prepares to plunge into marital bliss. Unfortunately, when things go awry and her groom vanishes. She wonders did he get cold feet or is he part of a conspiracy?

Dr. Phillip Chambers is the happy groom and consultant to Dorman Industries.

Dana is Phillip’s daughter, an EMT.

Gloria and Matt never anticipated running into so much chaos by attending a wedding. First off, she is not thrilled with the attitude of Phillip. Then Dana is mortified when she receives word that her partner, Tanisha dies from a gunshot. The girl was only doing her job by tending to a patient being brought in on a gurney to the hospital and someone stepped up, shot Tanisha and stole the patient’s briefcase. Dana uncovers some detached ID’s suggesting uses of different names with admission to Dorman Industries that link to her father and the dead patient along with other mysterious clues involving nitrogen weapons research. Gloria and Matt are thrown into the middle of an investigation when Phillip comes up missing. There has to be a reason the briefcase linked Phillip to the gurney patient along with the multiple identities and why someone tagged the partner for elimination. With stolen research, the clock is ticking as they hurry to locate information before it falls into the wrong hands. Until matters are settled, Gloria knows her friend will not be saying I do and she and Matt will not be able to have their leisure time together.

The Nitrogen Murder is the seventh periodic table mystery, Ms. Minichino details a well-crafted plot with many twists, and turns that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. This terrific thriller is loaded with scientific data that really lends well to the storyline. I like Gloria and Matt because they are not a young duo out to find answers. Instead, they are mature yet still hold a sensual love for each other and the way they work together is marvelous. I thoroughly love their interaction and that in itself is a great plus in the book. Ms. Minichino peppers wonderful seasoning into the story that makes this read most intriguing while blending in excellent characters that takes the reader on one fascinating twister of a ride.
