Elizabeth I has been ruling England since the death of her brother William. She has done everything necessary to maintain alliances and providing a successor to the throne. Unless Elizabeth can convince her husband, Phillip of Spain, for a divorce, her daughter Anne Isabella, Princess of Wales, will certainly end up a pawn in political games.

But while waiting on Philip to grant her a divorce, freeing him to remarry and give Spain its own heir; England's enemies have other plans for The Princess of Wales. Plans that include murder, mayhem, and the fate of the country at stake.

Elizabeth and closest friends and advisors need to figure out a way to uncover who is behind this plot to harm and destroy. If they do not act fast it may be too late for more than just Anne Isabella.

I am not a big reader of this type of historical fiction so at first I had a hard time figuring out who was who, but I managed to do that after a slow start and rather enjoyed this book. Even though this is a new series with the next generation and the book stands alone, I would recommend reading The Boleyn Trilogy first to learn the characters. Overall this was an enjoyable read and I was very shocked at the ending; Wow what an ending is all I can say.
