Jules is a divorced unemployed teacher. She comes from a wealthy family. Her father was brutally murdered five years ago. She wants to be closer to her younger half sister.
Trent is a former rodeo bull rider, turned law enforcement, now undercover as a teacher. He was once in love with Jules and is afraid that her sister will remember who he is. He is ruggedly handsome and very determined in everything he undertakes.
Jules is distressed to learn that her younger half sister, Shaylee, is being sent to Blue Rock Academy on the order of a judge and the wishes of their self-centered mother. Something about the school does not seem right to her. The place seems just too good to be true, particularly in light of the disappearance of one student and the dismissal of a teacher. She is determined to protect her sister, even if she has to get a job there herself. Her past is waiting for her there, if she and Shaylee can survive the present.
This is an exciting and suspenseful tale that had me hooked almost from the first page. Jules is a believable and sympathetic character. Her history with Trent still is affecting her life, and I enjoyed the author’s gradual reveal of their story. Shaylee is an enigma, even for a teenage girl, and the other troubled teens and secretive teachers at the school give the reader a host of suspects. The plot is gripping with some pretty wicked twists and turns, great romance, and a very surprising ending. This is a must read for suspense fans.
