Allison Leavitt is a mystery writer living in an apartment building in Spokane, Washington, with nosy friends and a meddling landlady. Al is overcoming a tragic event in her past and has not had much luck with romance. She is content with her life the way it is.
Jay Cantrall is a Los Angeles police detective that was transferred out under a scandal involving a woman. The last thing he is looking for is a new romance. Jay is suspicious, surly and guarded. He is determined not to be fooled again.
When Jay’s new landlady asks for his assistance because she fears something has happened to the resident mystery writer, Jay finds it hard to keep his guard up when face to face with Al. Then fate, with a little help from a meddling landlady, keep throwing Allison and Jay together. A series of comical errors, misunderstandings and one strange dog make the young couple realize what is really important in life.
This is an amusing story. I found it to be highly entertaining and very well written. It is enjoyable to see romance not always being taken too seriously. I look forward to seeing more works by Ms. Wolf and highly recommend You’ll be the Death of Me. In my opinion, it would be a great addition to anyone's collection.
