Ethan Jackson’s blood thrummed through his body as he waited for Jennifer Shelton to answer his knock. Her short note, The Regency - room 1635 - any time after seven, had taken him by surprise. Jen wasn’t due to visit for another two weeks. Pleased she was early, he still wondered at the unexpected visit.
The door opened and he let out a pent-up breath. His gaze flickered over the woman he planned to marry as soon as she said yes to his as yet unasked question. Jen hadn’t changed much since he last saw her a few months ago. In fact, but for a few gray steaks in her short cropped brown hair and some tiny laugh lines, she looked much the same as she had when he first fell in love with her thirty years ago.
His gaze slid over her body once again. Clingy red silk dress, black stockings and two-inch stilettos. She never dressed like that back in high school! His mouth watered.
Jen raised a brow. “I believe the note said anytime after seven.”
Ethan checked his watch. Six fifty-six.
She grinned, her hazel eyes sparkling. He smiled back, stepped through the doorway and glanced around the hotel room. An expensive, well-appointed suite, this was one hell of a step-up from their normal meeting place. What was Jen up to?
She brushed past him. Her perfume tickled his nose as the gentle sway of her hips beneath the red silk enticed him. He drew in a ragged breath and turned away before his jeans became unbearably tight.
A possessive hand on his arm sent tingles through his body. He turned to the woman he loved.
She beamed a smile at him. “Surprised?”
Hell, yeah, he was surprised. His gaze flicked over her naughty attire. Man, oh, man. His mouth went dry. She licked her lips nervously and stepped back.
Ethan gripped her by the shoulders and hauled her against his heated body. She gasped at the contact. Damn. Her sensual red lips begged to be tasted.
It was hard to breathe, much less talk. “I’m surprised—and pleased.”
He moved his hands down the back of her slinky dress until he came to the swell of her buttocks. Ahhh, he remembered the feel of these mounds under his fingers. He splayed his hands over them and pulled her wickedly against his arousal. “I didn’t think you were coming for a couple more weeks.”
Jen grinned, her eyes mischievous once again. A dimple showed itself in her right cheek. Her hands slid up and around his neck to caress his sensitive nape. “I haven’t come yet, Ethan.”
