Seacliff house was a pleasant read for me. The characters are likeable, if predictable. Esma as the sweet and naive young nurse with a secret past she knows nothing of was, at times, cloying but on the whole, true to the time the story was written in. Stephen’s dark and brooding persona was well rendered and made me wonder what was under the surface. The rest of the characters fit perfectly into the tone of the story where just about every Gothic plot device was used. If you enjoy a story written in the style of Jane Eyre, you will enjoy Seacliff House.
