A Cajun Christmas

Cajun Heat: Book 2

Author(s): K.T. Bishop

Madison Snow's world was turned upside down when Hurricane Denise destroyed her home and eventually took away her job with the New orleans Hornets.

A handsome stranger from the NBA, Gunner Banks, arrived in town and announced the Hornets leaving New Orleans. A combination of anger and lust filled Madison's heart. Will she act on those feelings?

Waves of excitement rushed through Madison as she prepared for her first Christmas dinner party. She slumped at the desk in the study room to plot her first move. She surfed the web for the perfect Christmas card designs to send to her guests. A smiley snowman behind a light blue skyline stood above the pack.

Gunner arrived home from work and screamed her name. “Madi, where are you?”

“I’m in the study, honey."

He entered the room and kissed her as the aromas of dinner wafted out of the take out containers he held. “How was your day?”

“Productive. I sent out the cards.”

Gunner kissed her on the way to taking Cari and Whitespot for a mid-morning walk through the city. “I see someone’s in a good mood.”

“Christmas brings out the best in me, poppy,” she smiled.

He asked, “What did you say?”

“I was looking for the poppy seeds.” She rolled her eyes and whispered, “Whew.”

She mixed salt, pepper, vinegar and soy sauce into a bowl to spread over the turkey in the oven. Her next dish was the Jambalaya. She sat at the table to blend the rice, sausage, hot chili pepper and onion into a bowl and then put the concoction in a pot.

Girl, you're on a roll

Two hours later, the Cajun turkey and jambalaya were both complete.

Madison was originally against making dressing but decided to do it because of the guest’s expectations. Everyone cooks stuffing on Christmas.

By the time Gunner returned, the dressing was complete, the spicy aroma filling the air. “Damn that smells great.”

“Your friends better enjoy it,” she said.

Madison’s food was so great everyone cleaned out the succulent Cajun brunch in two tries.

“Welcome to our gang,” John said. “I think we’ve just found ourselves a cook.”
