Annabelle raised her head, the moonlight striking her eyes. They shifted to steel gray, the same color as the metal he discovered by accident. Forged into knives, this night-blue metal set him up with a fortune. His body grew limp, slumping forward, but his gaze transfixed on her eyes. As the pupils shifted, he felt the familiar, stabbing gut pain. Switchblade needed the journey, yet it angered. He hadn’t needed anything in this way since mainlining fixes in his early twenties.
