Revenge Knows No Bounds
An Apache ambush leaves five strangers to fend for themselves in the New Mexico desert. Led by an outlaw on the run, Cage O’Brien, they find their way to the company of an Apocalyptic teaching Preacher man named Artamas Goodfellow who promises to help them.
Instead they are set up, separated, and put through Hell on Earth while waiting on the alleged End Times. Cage swears revenge and hunts Artamas and his cult down into Indian Territory before unspeakable horrors are called upon the Earth and time runs out.
Artama’s old eyes roam over beautiful Penelope’s every curve and feature in the firelight and he grins, “I do think I can accommodate her. We are planning on going there ourselves as a matter of fact, tomorrow. Maybe you can come along? We are getting provisions and much needed equipment. I am delighted to meet your acquaintance Miss Penelope.” He says lifting a hand to her to kiss the back of her hand.
Penelope curtsies and smiles at the Reverend’s gesture.
“Last Chance you mean?” Cage asks unsure.
“Of course, before we head off into Indian Territory and await the End Times.” Reverend Artamas replies with a righteousness in his tone.
“Excuse me sir? End Times? I thought you were out hunting Geronimo?” Cage replies confused.
Artamas smiles a little, “That fox and his pack have managed to outsmart us many times costing us much and so we are planning on doing something else instead to compensate the losses. If the government wants that Apache dog that bad, they can send in their man-power, we have bigger fish to fry. The End of the World is coming and we must prepare.”
Smirking a little at the holy-man’s foolish words Cage looks up to him, “Well if we can just make sure that Penelope gets to where she belongs I do not care what happens, fanciful or not.”
Felipe stands to one side eager to see this concord through. A worried expression flashes on his dark face at times with darting eyes and a licking of dry lips.
Turning away towards his tent and arching his head up to the stars, Artamas speaks almost to the night-sky, “It is not a fanciful idea Mister…Mister?”
“Cage O’Brien sir.”
“Mister Cage O’Brien. The End of the World is finally coming, as talked about in this here holy-book. I am like Daniel who slept and dreamt of the coming Apocalypse in the Bible. I have seen the end of this sinful world and its terrible people and hasten to gather my flock to Providence. He has sent his angels to be amongst my people and alert me to what is to come, just as promised!” Artamas proclaims proudly.
