The story is set in the heroic age of aviation in the 1930's over the hot, arid desert of the Horn of Africa. Passing through Mogadishu, local thugs kidnap Laura, a young Englishwoman. She escapes and stumbles on Ray, an aging war hero, the owner-operator of an ailing airline. The magic of flying and the sensuality of controlling an aircraft captivates Laura. Would her burning desire to fly and the love for two men consume her?
