Alec (Shibari Auction House)

Author(s): Sean Michael

Book Summary

Experienced sub Alec is back at the Shibari Auction House to sell two more years of his time after his master of ten years turns him in for a "newer model." Novice Top Benj can't believe anyone would throw the lovely Alec away or complain that he's too old and snaps Alec up for twice the asking price.

Could it be both men are looking for more than a sale and some fun, and is it possible they'll find it together?

"Yves, sir. So nice to see you." Alec bowed to the master in charge. It wasn't true, not at all. It wasn't nice, but it was what it was.

It had been ten years since he'd been at Shibari last. Master Robert had taken him for a year, then Master Neville for ten years. Now he was back for another two-year contract. Then he would have enough to retire, to move to Belize and stay forever. Walk the beach and hide from the world.

Forever.

"Welcome back, Alec. I guess I don't need to give you the usual speech, unless of course you'd like me to."

"No, sir. Thank you. I'm aware of the rules." He smiled, trying not to worry. He'd done this two times. He could do it a third.

"Too old, boy," Neville had said, looking him over on his twenty-ninth birthday. "I need someone younger, fresher."

Alec had thought he'd simply lie down and sob, then, beg his master to renew his contract once more, but he hadn't. He'd packed his clothes, gathered his paperwork and references, and he'd left.

"I see you're looking for a two-year contract this time, and again offering to be a full-time, live-in slave."

"Yes, sir. I have a two hundred thousand dollar minimum. I'm worth it." He was well-trained, focused, obedient, quiet, and he was one hell of a personal assistant.

"I'm sure you are. As you know the ropes, I'm going to send Bart right in with the paperwork and then Katie will take you under her wing."

"Thank you." He refused to be nervous, to be scared.

Yves, seeming taller than ever, shook his hand. "If there's anything you need, you only have to ask."

"Thank you. I... It's the same? Good men, still?"

Yves' hand wrapped around his biceps, and he was given a gentle smile. "Our vetting process has only improved over the years, Alec. Whoever wins you, it will be a good thing."

"Thank you." He nodded, whispered low. "I got too old for him. He replaced me with a young man just out of high school." He wasn't sure if he was ashamed, sad, or furious.

"Too old?" Yves frowned and looked at his paperwork. "Yes, as I thought, only just thirty. I'd hardly call that old, Alec." The man patted his arm sympathetically.

"Thank you." He thought shame was winning today.

Yves' phone buzzed and he glanced at it. "I'm sorry, Alec, but I must deal with this. If you'll take a seat, Bart and Katie will take care of you."

"Yes, sir. Thank you for your assistance."

He sat, played solitaire on his phone and tried not to think too hard. It wasn't long at all before Bart arrived, looking older than he remembered, but still buttoned-down and prim and proper.

"Good afternoon." He gave Bart a nod.

"Hi, Alec. Do you need me to go over the paperwork with you?"

"Has it changed in ten years?" If it hadn't, he knew the drill.

"No, it's basically still the same. If it works, don't fix it." Bart actually gave him a wink.

"Exactly." Alec chuckled and signed where he was supposed to, amending the contract they had on file.

"Excellent. Katie will be along to help you get ready. The auction isn't until nine this evening, so you have plenty of time for whatever you need to do. Good luck."

"Oh, thank you." Maybe he could have a nap. A shower. A long, hard cry early enough for his face to not be red.

Bart shook his hand again and disappeared down the hall. A few moments later, Katie arrived, looking frazzled. "Oh, Alec, I'm so behind at the moment. Do you mind if I show you to your room and then disappear for a few minutes? We have loads of time." She looked him quickly up and down. "You don't need a whole lot of work."

"I don't mind, Katie. I'm surprised you're still here, pretty. It's been a long, long time."

"It has. I was so surprised to see your name on the docket again. When your last owner bought you for ten years, I thought..." Her voice faded and she looked stricken. "Oh, that was rude of me. I'm sorry, Alec."

"It's going to come up." He met her eyes. "He wants younger men. I'll have to hope there's someone tonight interested in experience and charm."

"Honey, if you're old, then so am I, and we are so not going to go there."

"You know it." He winked. "Tell me I have time for a nap?" He'd been on a plane for hours.

She looked him over again, expression all business. "Better you do it now than when we've got you ready. I want to put some subtle highlights in your hair, but that's the only thing that'll take any time. And frankly, knowing I can leave you back here for a few hours before I get to you will make my day so much easier, so go for it with my blessing."

"Thanks, sweetheart. I'm going to crash, relax. Wake me when you need me."

"Will do." She led him two doors down and opened the door on a large dressing room, pointed to the leather couch. "Knock yourself out, honey." She kissed his cheek and was gone.

He nodded, sat there for a long time, and when the tears came, they were hard and violent until they faded and he slept.
