Luck of the Irish

When Dina’s boss assigns her to review a local family restaurant called Luck of the Irish on St. Patrick’s Day of all days, she isn’t happy. Upon entering the establishment and seeing all the staff dressed as Leprechauns, she expects passable food and annoyingly cheerful service. What she got left her breathless.

Connor had always known what his destiny held in store for him. When the gods finally bestowed their gift upon him, he never expected his destiny to take place in a pair of sea blue eyes. Now, he finally understood why a four leaf clover is considered good luck.

Excerpt

Dina stared down into her soup in surprise. Could she really be looking at a four leaf clover floating amidst the vegetables? She glanced around the restaurant trying to spot her waiter. Unfortunately, the fact that it was St. Patrick’s Day and every staff member in the restaurant looked like an overgrown Leprechauns in those awful green outfits and even more ridiculous hats made it impossible. She couldn’t tell the men from the women, let alone one waiter from another in those getups.

She’d heard the owner of this four star restaurant took St. Patrick’s Day seriously, but this was over the top. If the clover had been floating freely in the soup, she would have dismissed it as a festive garnish. That it was still sealed in plastic meant that someone in the kitchen had messed up. Sighing in frustration, she fished the clover out of her soup and set it on the napkin she’d pulled off her lap. This wouldn’t look good for the restaurant when she wrote up her article later.

“How is everything today, Miss?”

Being called ‘Miss’ caught her so completely off guard, she sat up straight and looked around the restaurant to find out whom the waiter could be addressing. His laughter sent pleasant shivers up her spine. The sound was heavenly.

Looking up to acknowledge his presence, she was trapped by the sexiest green eyes she’d ever seen. You will meet your one, dear niece, and you will know him as the green man. Her aunt’s words echoed around her mind as she sat mesmerized by the masculine sight before her.

“I humbly apologize for laughing. I’ve just never gotten that reaction from a customer before.”

A hot blush crept up her cheeks in embarrassment. “It’s my fault, really. I’m so used to people calling me ‘Ma’am’ that I didn’t realize…” His amused smile lit up the room around them, stopping her breath in her throat. Hell, on him even the hat looked good. “I’m afraid you’ll need to repeat your question.”

“I asked how everything was today. Your waiter, Pietro, was called away on an emergency. My name is Connor and I’ll be taking over this section for him.”

“Lucky me.” She realized from his grin that she’d said those words aloud. Kill me now.

“I was thinking lucky me.” The silky softness of his voice drew her eyes back to his unnaturally handsome face in surprise. “Glad I’m not the only one that feels that way.”

Her blush burned hotter at the compliment. “I… I…” Taking a deep breath Dina forced calmness to flow through her. “Thank you.”

She wanted to crawl into the deepest , darkest hole she could find when he laughed again. Thank you? I said thank you? The man pays me the nicest compliment I’ve ever gotten and I say thank you? I am pathetic. One day I’ll learn how to deal with handsome men without looking like a mental patient. No wonder I’m still single.
