Struggling to comprehend a world turned upside down, Ian wants nothing more than to be with his partner Skorpe at The Castle, an underground stronghold where Parallelans and Earthies hide from the deadly Crimson Bane.
However, Ian’s unpredictable ex-fiancé is the residing MD. Skorpe worries that Ian still harbors lingering feelings for Regina Whitecash, but when the Bane sends The Castle into a Level Two emergency, Skorpe is called away to the command center, leaving Ian at Regina’s mercy.
Regina swears she’s a changed woman, but when Ian tells her that Skorpe is his mate, she lashes out at him just as explosions rock The Castle. Skorpe is cornered in the compound, and Ian awakens in Regina’s arms as they ride to a new Regrouping Point. Separated again, both men vow to find the other, but with the Crimson Bane taking so many lives, Ian and Skorpe pray they find one another before it’s too late.

They walked by an enormous, rectangular glass pane covering a twelve-foot section of wall. A couple of feet beyond it, Regina halted at a large steel and glass door, where she passed the top of her hand over a glowing green sensor.
At Ian’s startled look, she explained. “There are keycards for all doors, but as the doctor here, I had them implant a nanobyte under the skin of my hand for ease and time.”
“A nanobyte?” he stated, quirking his eyebrows. “Seriously?”
“Oh, yeah. The Parallelans are much more advanced than Earth ever thought of being.” She pushed open the door. “This is my hospital.”
He walked in behind her as the door whispered shut and clicked behind him. Regina strode through the front room, down a hall, passing several doors, and stopped at a huge steel door at the end of the long corridor.
“This is what I want to show you,” said Regina. “By showing you what’s in this room, it’s easier to explain our new world to you.” She waved the top of her hand in front of another sensor, and the door buzzed open.
A sense of dread hit Ian like a brick tossed from the top of a tall building. I really don’t want to go in there.
But Ian couldn’t help himself. He needed answers, needed to see what was on the other side of that huge security door.
Stepping inside, he halted in shock. Fuck!
The door snapped shut behind him.
