Jada Anderson had known from the beginning it would only be a three week hook-up. Nothing more than twenty-one days of great dirt bike riding, nights spent drinking bat bites, and making awesome love. So she left without a word on the twenty-first morning.
Dezmond Blance has the chance to take his career as a motocross rider to the next level. He’s been invited to compete for a spot on one of the national top ranked teams. After a great ride, he’s ready to celebrate but he’s missing one thing – the woman who stole his heart weeks earlier. To his surprise Jada is there to congratulate him.
When he wakes the next morning to find her gone, he thinks she’s done another vanishing act until his mechanic’s wife comes up missing to. Now both men must race to find the women they love before the next try-outs.
Jada Anderson leaned against the wall and watched Dezmond Blance sleep. His wavy, light brown hair bleached almost blond by the desert sun-covered the pillow. The denim-printed bed sheet blanketed him from his mid-back down so she was denied a final view of his great ass.
It was better to leave like this, she told herself. The camp was breaking up today. Everyone would be heading out. Dez had needed to get ready for the race circuit. This way allowed both of them to avoid the awkwardness of saying good-bye. An image flashed before her of Dez looking at his feet as he muttered something about calling her.
She’d known from the beginning it had only been a three-week hookup. Nothing more than twenty-one days of great bike riding, nights spent drinking bat bites, and making awesome love.
Dez shifted in his sleep. Reaching out, seeking her. She quickly lifted her duffel bag and eased out of the camper.
The melody of the early morning birds’ song filled the camp. Other than that it was silent. Something that had rarely happened over the last three weeks. Regardless of the time of day or night there had always seemed to be the hum of a motor and laughter filling the air. She turned the corner on the path that led away from Dez’s camper and to her Jeep.
Small flames still flickered in the central fire-pit. They had seen last night’s bonfire from Dez’s camper. Flames dancing in the sky pierced the darkness until the first rays of dawn. She and Dez had left early, for their own celebration.
A tremor of lust danced through her, making small bumps rise on her arms and her nipples to harden at the memory of their lovemaking. As hot and wild as the fire burning in the pit had been.
“Leaving?” Rose Lance asked, stepping out of the bathhouse. Of all the people to run into, Jada couldn’t believe her bad luck.
“I need to be in Tulsa next Wednesday for a promo spot for the next movie I’m working on,” Jada replied. It was a mid-budget film, but the stunts were incredible so she’d jumped at the chance to ride in it.
Rose snorted as she finished toweling her long, ebony hair. “Bullshit. You’re fearless on a bike. Sailing through the air with a smile on your face or seeing how many seconds you can cut off your lap time, but add emotions into the mix and you piss yourself in fear.” She held Jada’s eyes in a challenge. “I’ve been with Cody for four years and I’ve never seen Dez take to a woman the way he has you. Oh wait a minute. I should say a little girl parading around in a woman’s body.”
“Fuck you,” Jada spat. She wasn’t afraid of what she felt for Dez because it was nothing but lust.
