Wildcat

Author(s): Arlene Knowell

Rachel Kenyon Linden expected a dream honeymoon with her new husband Blake. A bungalow high on the hills overlooking the Panamanian Rainforest was the perfect love nest for newlyweds; but things go dreadfully wrong when Blake chooses to show off his Green Beret survival skills. Deep in the jungle the two stumble upon a drug field and find themselves being chased by hired guns.

It was Rachel’s first time in the jungle. How far would Blake go to protect his new bride?

Excerpt:

Rachel stuffed bottles of water and bags of snacks into the backpack for the day. Blake had promised to take her into the cloud forest for a day hike and then lead her back through the jungle at dusk so that she could enjoy the true sounds of how it comes alive, at night. Blake sharpened the machete that was left in the cabin for just such an event. He puckered his lips and blew out silently as his new wife tried to decide if they should take the bag of trail mix they’d purchased last night at the market. It didn’t matter what she was doing, it awoke every single manly fiber within him. Now was no exception.

“Will this attract too many bugs?” she asked, holding the chocolate covered treats up for his view.

“Nah.” He waved it off. “Just load it up, that way if we get lost we’ll have plenty to eat and drink.”

She looked toward him with a solemn, confident face. “I have no worries of getting lost.”

“Why’s that?” He glanced toward her then continued to sharpen the blade.

“My husband is a Green Beret.” She propped her hands on her hips.

“That’s a bunch of hype,” he retorted. “He’ll probably lose his way within an hour.”

“But, you don’t know my husband,” she bragged glancing toward him as she continued to pack the bag. “He can kick Superman’s ass, and he has a dick, this big.”

He snapped his face toward her, but lost the fight against the laugh that crawled from inside his chest. He wished that he had a dick that big, but it wasn’t the case. He’d been in a lot of showers, seen a lot of dicks in his day, but he’d never seen one that big.

“That’s a mighty big dick. Are you sure it’s that big?” He smiled widely at her inaccurate measurement.

“Well, maybe I misrepresented by an inch or so, but he has a really nice one,” she teased, swaying toward him with a look in her eyes that told him, he better do something or the hike would be off.

“So he plans to take you into the jungle and show off his skills, huh?”

She nodded, kissed him on the cheek and walked back into the kitchen. “He’s the real deal, and I’d walk across hell with him if he asked me to.”

A surge of heat shot through his body. “Well, he’s a very lucky man, but I’m positive he’d never ask a sexy little number like you to walk across hell or any place like it.”

He walked toward her as she zipped the pack and scooted it to him. He kissed her slowly, deeply and grunted when he pulled away and fought the desire to take her right there in the kitchen floor. The pack was light compared to what he was used to carrying, but it didn’t stop Rachel from apologizing about the weight. She was always thinking of him, and he wanted to protect her from the world.
